….and congratulations!! You’ve survived your first year of parenthood and that tiny baby that you carried inside of you is now almost reaching toddlerhood! Can you believe it? This is truly a moment to celebrate as a family!
A cake smash experience is such a fun, beautiful and unique way of celebrating your child turning one. It’s the time to document your babies wonderful little personality. My style is simple, natural and timeless.
As a bradford cake smash photographer I want your experience with me to be as relaxed and as effortless as possible. You can enjoy being present in the moment, bonding with your baby and enjoy celebrating their special first birthday!
Your cake smash session will consist of 3 parts:
01 | PORTRAIT
Your session will start with their first birthday portrait, a chance for your baby to relax and get used to me and my camera before the real fun begins!
As a bradford cake smash photographer, I always recommend something neutral to wear, as this fits well with my studio and your session. You can either bring along your own cute outfit for them or I can provide an outfit – I have a collection of little outfits to wear in the studio
02 | THE CAKE SMASH
During the main cake smash session I will take photos of your little one eating, smashing & making a mess with their cake. Will they tentatively approach the cake with caution.. or dive in head first?!
Decorations and cake are provided by myself.. My style is very simplistic.. A few balloons and your baby is all you need to mark this occasion.
03 | THE SPLASH SESSION
…the time where I usually get most of the smiles! Your baby will get a chance to relax in a warm roll top bath tub filled for some bubbly fun.
I use bubbles to create a distraction to get some natural, fun images of your little one splashing around. A bonus for you is that you get them back squeaky clean!

THE LOCATION
My cosy garden studio is situated in Gomersal, West Yorkshire. it is easily accessible from Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and Halifax. The stunning studio creates an experience you will never forget! It is light, airy, clean and tidy and may I add, very warm!!
I have a bottle warmer, extra nappies, water wipes, a changing mat and even a feeding cushion. It is a home away from home.. Whatever you have forgotten, don’t worry – i have you covered!!!
Client Closet
The fun part!! I have curated the most beautiful and luxurious selection of outfits for your little one, most are from small and sustainable brands.. I have carefully hand picked outfits for your little one..
As a Bradford cake smash photographer, this is important to me because I want to make this process for you as seamless as possible.
Whether it be dresses, rompers or nappy covers, that fit with my brand style that will suit the studio set up perfectly. It is such a crucial part of my service.. So I have put together a guide for you so that you can get an idea of what outfits I have. It will be cleaned, steamed and ready for you to wear.. All you need to do is bring your little one for some fun!
Posing
My approach to the session is that I want it to look and feel natural. I don’t want your photographs to be a carbon copy of someone else’s…
I will give you guidance in where to look, how to position yourself and where to place your hands.. But it is the in-between moments that I love to capture! They’re the moments that reflect the real and the raw.

Questions?
When is the best time to have a cake smash shoot?
These are usually booked for when your baby is around 11 to 12 months
How much is the deposit?
£95, this is deducted from your package price when you choose your package. There is no need to choose a package until you come to view your images at your face to face viewing and ordering session.
Can siblings be included in the photos?
Absolutely, yes! I encourage 1 or 2 photos with siblings.
Where will my session take place?
I offer studio sessions in my Gomersal garden studio.
Do you include the cake?
Yes, all of my packages include a professionally baked cake. The style of this is discussed in our initial consultation.
Does the price include the set up?
Yes, the prices of all of my packages include set up and balloons (if you choose balloons).
Do you have outfits for my children?
I have invested in some beautiful and unique outfits for your children up to the ages of 4. If you have older children, just let me know as I may just have something!! You will see the outfits in my brochure after your initial consultation.
What do I need to bring to my session?
A drink for your little one, they get thirsty with the cake!! A towel for their bathtub session.. Brownie points if it is a cute towel as we can use it for a cute natural photo of baby sat next to the tub at the end.
Do you provide drinks at the studio?
I provide tea and coffee, juice and canned drinks. You never know, you may even get some sweet treats, too!!
Can I change the date after I have booked?
Yes of course! I know what it’s like having children, something always seems to crop up! If you or your child are ill on the day, just let me know and we can reschedule. For anything else, I need 48 hours notice at least, otherwise a rebook would require another deposit.

We arrived to the studio with such a warm, inviting welcome from Kate, immediately we felt at ease.
Kate clearly has a lot of experience with young children and was so patient and friendly.
Kate is an absolutely fabulous photographer and gave clear directions. She took hundreds of photos to make sure she gets them perfect shots.
We loved coming back to the studio to view the photos, it felt like it had a bit more of that personal touch.
The photos were absolutely stunning and we’ve already booked in for another shoot. Would recommend to anyone who wants beautiful, lasting memories of their young family photographed!
Kate is amazing!
We had our newborn shoot with her when our little boy was just a few days old. She was so lovely, relaxed and welcoming (which is so important when you are a few days post partum). She is incredible at what she does!
